Has provided case management services for workers' compensation on the Big Island for sixteen years and became a Certified Case Manager (CCM) in 1993. Having lived and worked in Hawaii for over the past 11 years, Kay is a "seasoned" counselor and case manager, skilled in working with the most difficult cases. She has excellent decision making abilities with attention to costs and optimal utilization of free community resources for favorable outcomes. She has over 20 years in the counseling field, specializing in vocational rehabilitation since 1990. Born in Chula Vista, California, Kay received her Master of Science degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from California State University, Los Angeles and her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with Public Law concentration from UCLA.

Tony is President of the Hawaii Rehabilitation Counseling Association. He has served as the President of the Rehabilitation Association of Hawaii and of the National Rehabilitation Association’s Pacific Region. In 2002, Tony was named Counselor of the Year by the Hawaii Rehabilitation Counseling Association. Tony has worked extensively with people with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). His master’s thesis entitled “Vocational Rehabilitation of People with TBI” was published as an article in the Hawaii Medical Journal. As Program Coordinator for the Health Resources and Services Administration’s TBI Planning grant for the State of Hawaii, he facilitated the development of the Hawaii Statewide Action Plan for TBI. Subsequently, Tony served two years as Chairman of Hawaii’s State TBI Advisory Board and as a member of the State Neurotrauma Advisory Board. He volunteered his services to the Brain Injury Association of Hawaii; helping initiate a TBI Speakers Bureau, assisting in the TBI support group and by giving presentations about vocational rehabilitation and TBI. Tony is a Certified Brain Injury Trainer with the American Academy for the Certification of Brain Injury Specialists. Tony has lived in Hawaii since 1975. He worked as a Journeyman Carpenter with AFL-CIO Local 745. He worked on projects as the inter-island airport terminal and the H-3 viaduct. He worked as a Line Cook in a five-star hotel and as a Restaurant Manager. Given this diverse background, Tony brings a broad range of experience to his job. |

Elma has held a variety of responsible positions in the nursing and healthcare management fields here on Oahu. She has a solid background in med/surg and has worked as a Director of Nursing and a Director of a substance abuse program. Her areas of expertise include substance abuse, pain management, patient education and team management. Having received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology as well as her degree in nursing, Elma brings a distinct background of experiences into the field of case management. Elma's nursing and management experiences have provided her a unique opportunity to help individuals identify and overcome significant barriers that impede medical recovery. She is adept at providing services to a wide variety of cultures. Being a Filipino, she has a unique insight into the Filipino culture and has developed fluent language abilities in the following Filipino dialects; Tagalog, Ilocano, Cebuano, Hiligaynon, Pagasinan, Pampango, and Bicol. Elma's case management style is assertive as opposed to aggressive, which helps individuals establish realistic goals, identify and overcome barriers and achieve their medical recovery goals. |
